ANNIE: 5/10 Fabio and I decided to split a Capricciosa (without prosciutto) and a Margherita. When it came time to eat my half of the Margherita, I just couldn't stomach it. The Capricciosa was ok because its true flavors did a good job hiding under all the toppings, but the tomato sauce was a bit strong and the mozzarella dull, and the crust wasn't performing any tricks I haven't seen before. Il Genio Italiano seems like a cool place to hang out, but even after dinnertime the supposed main attraction (live band) was still missing from the stage and I know what had been on my plate couldn't bring in the crowds!

Il locale è famoso per la musica dal vivo, ma, forse per l'orario, non c'èra nessuno a suonare. La pizza è la classica da accompagnamento, per placare la fame in una serata all'insegna di qualcos'altro; considerata invece da solista, cioè andare lì proprio per mangiarla, evidenza tutte le sue stonature, ogni ingrediente è mediocre, sa di poco.

ANNIE: 5/10 My LuLu pizza at La Playa was topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, sausage, porcini mushrooms and scamorza. The scamorza proved to be too strong for my taste (at least for a pizza), but the porcini were soft enough and the sausage salty! The pizza was one of the thinnest I've seen so far in Florence, which wasn't a negative for me; I love both thin and thick! The mozzarella lacked a bit in quality, or maybe only in quantity - as it was just a decorative, super fine layer as opposed to balls. An average pizza that won't have me singing anytime soon "vamos a la playa"!

Un pò fuori zona, è nella strada che porta dal centro all'aeroporto e all'autostrada, quando si è di transito e si vuole mettere qualcosa sullo stomaco prima del grande viaggio; forse è per questo che è una pizza senza troppo pretese, e in teoria può essere la strategia giusta: bassa, leggera, ingredienti senza infamia e senza lode, ma nel complesso non è che si rimanga soddisfatti. Il problema è per il ritorno, quando si arriva a Firenze, magari dall'estero, e dopo aver sofferto la fame si sogna anche di notte una bella pizza con i sapori italiani. Delusione assicurata.
