Not wanting to be hasty, my judgement almost certainly clouded (even so, not erroneously) by a midnight, post-Radiohead concert craving my first time at Gherardo's, I waited for a follow-up visit to make any sort of official proclamation. And here it is: in one of my most-loved neighborhoods of Florence, in a dimly-lighted pizzeria just a little bit larger than an ATAF autobus, and often times more packed, at a table made by a piece of wood jutting out from a stone wall, just barely big enough for two (insert drum roll), you can eat a fantastically yummy pizza. My Contadino (tomato sauce, mozzarella, sausage, mushrooms, onions and basil) was...perfect: delicious and generous amounts of mozzarella, mushrooms and onions tender and flavorful, bite-sized pieces of tasty, pink sausage, and a sweet and crunchy crust. Crowded and hot, between tables of lovers and all-male groups of beer guzzlers, it's an intimate, scrumptious moment in pizza-eating to be shared with your crush, your ex even, your best friend.

Mezzo punto in più per l'atmosfera artistica che si crea nel locale, ma non ne avrebbe bisogno perchè si parte da un voto già alto. La pizza infatti è molto buona: stile alto, mozzarella e pomodori eccellenti. C'è un retrogusto amaro, che a dire a verità non ci sta neanche male, non ho capito se sia l'olio o la mozzarella. Con questa pizzeria si conferma la regola per cui più piccolo e spartano è il locale più buona è la pizza; è anche un'idea di serata diversa, non da gruppate confusionarie, ma per ritrovarsi in pochi attorno a un tavolino, con le gambe che si toccano per il poco spazio.
