It's funny to me that at Il Pipistrello one must specifically order the "little mouthfuls" of mozzarella to come with the Margherita. Aren't they, like, um, the most obvious ingredient? Margerita con Bocconcini di Fiordilatte is redundant, and there should be no difference between it and the ordinary Margherita. I shouldn't be so sarcastic,though, because as this blog has shown, many pizzerias in Florence make Margheritas that look like the one in the right of this photo (the plain Margherita): skimpy on the cheese, which mixes with the tomato sauce like scum on pond water. At least Il Pipistrello gives one a choice, for a higher price of course, even if it seems absurd, like asking for ice water in an American restaurant: you just don't have to, because it's always "a given". The pizzas were thin, but chewy. Not much flavor. Not gross, but not delicious. The one with more mozzarella was decidedly better, but I like cheese.

Quando nel loro sito ho visto la foto di due pizze dall'aspetto discutibile, mi sono chiesto come si potesse scegliere due immagini così per pubblicizzare una pizzeria. Si vede subito una mozzarella non genuina, colori non freschi, un aspetto non "napoletano". Quando sono andato a mangiarle dal vivo mi sono ritrovato le stesse nel piatto, quindi c'è da ammirare la coerenza. Quindi stretta di mano, viva l'onestà, ma la pizza è un'altra cosa.
