Ah, yes, The Old Man and The Sea. After almost two years of pizza reviews, I feel much like Hemingway's seasoned fisherman: I've been a long time without a good pizza and I can spot a feisty one from afar. This pizza emerged from the kitchen without even a basil leaf to detract from its brutality. The crust was thick and fresh, but it desperately needed salt, as did the tomato sauce, which, in such abundance, sat coagulating in a pool formed by the high crusts. It was a struggle, but in the end it was I who was conqueror! And the search continues...

Ci hanno provato a fare una pizza alla napoletana, è anche bella a vedersi, come i quadri appesi che raffigurano immagini tratte da "Il vecchio e il mare": in particolare io ero seduto davanti alla barca un pò inclinata arenata sulla spiaggia, molto evocativa. Ma mentre il romanzo si distingue per la sua crude realtà, la pizza così bella al vedersi crolla al primo boccone, soprattutto per la scarsa qualità del pomodoro, che è pure dosato in modo eccessivo, per la mozzarella che sa di poco e per il sapore dolciastro complessivo. La crosta risulta un pò pastosa, ma è il male minore.
