Da Tito - I Setti Peccati

""""""I Setti Peccati
Via Taddeo Alderotti, 87r
50139 Firenze
Tel. 055 4360470

Prezzo: 23 Euro
1 Pizza Boscaiola
1 Pizza Porcini
2 Coca-Cola in Bottiglia di Vetro (25 cl)

ANNIE: 8.5/10
I Setti Peccati is the second branch within the Da Tito chain that we've reviewed, the first being Il Sesto Girone. I can't wait to go to I Peccati di Gola and to the newest location opening in Egypt! My experience here was equal to the one I had at Il Sesto Girone, I could have just copied and pasted the review: largest circumference of any single-eater pizza I've seen in Florence, best thin/crunchy crust ever (even if there were some burnt spots), soft and large porcini, big and salty hunks of sausage, whole olives...boscaiola pizzas are my favorite, but the ingredient combination in this version is soooo YUM!

FABIO: 5/10

""""""Corcky Pizza
Via Antognoli, 36
50142 Firenze
Tel. 055 4378293

Prezzo: Groupon 14 Euro
1 Pizza Margherita
1 Pizza Capricciosa
2 Coca-Cola in Lattina

ANNIE: 5/10
As Grouponers, we were told that our first pizza would be a margherita (non-negotiable), and that after that we would be able to order only one pizza at a time, from the first two sections of pizzas. Of course, my top picks, the Boscaiola and the Porcini, were in the prohibited third section. The Margherita wasn't too bad: thin crust, good tomato sauce, the mozzarella a little sketchy, but overall good flavor. It's what you'd expect from delivery pizza, maybe a bit better (Corcky's does do deliveries). Then we got the Capricciosa minus the prosciutto, and the tomato sauce seemed different, not as good. The artichokes, olives and mushrooms were plentiful and tasty enough, but...not especially impressive. We wrapped things up with some mediocre cheesecake and only ONCE did they bring the wrong pizza to the table...unlike our previous Groupon experience.

FABIO: 4/10

Borgo San Frediano, 102/104r
50124 Firenze
Tel. 055 2670446

Prezzo: 15 Euro
1 Pizza Margherita
1 Pizza Calabrese
2 Coca-Cola in Lattina

ANNIE: 7/10
When we walked in, I suspected Il Borgo to become my new favorite pizza place. It has a comfy, pub-like feel: small and jam-packed with high wooden tables and stools, dimmed lights, sounds of conversation coming from the regulars. I loved the atmosphere, and hoped I would feel the same about the pizza...The crust was super delicious. You might question that, seeing the burnt spots. But, they peeled off easily and didn't ruin the flavor. I got the Calabrese (Spicy Salami, Onions and Bell Peppers), thinking the salami was going to be that large, hot and zesty kind, instead it was that half-dollar sized, tastes-like-wet-dog kind...so that was a bummer; they had to be picked off. The onions and red and yellow peppers were yummy, the mozzarella was ok (except in the spots where the dog had lain), and the tomato sauce wasn't overpowering. It was one rung above your average pizza, but at the top of the ladder for pizzerias.

FABIO: 6.5/10

Re Joy

""""""Re Joy
Viale Morgagni, 12a
50134 Firenze
Tel. 055 419645

Prezzo: Groupon 19 Euro
1 Pizza Boscaiolo
1 Pizza Profumo di Bosco
1 Calzone Farcito
2 Coca-Cola dalla Spina

ANNIE: 3.5/10
I believe it was our elite status as Grouponers combined with the poor service at Re Joy that made our nearly 3-hour pizzeria spectacle possible. We were seated in a hidden corner and told that some crostini would arrive shortly. A good half-hour later, the host returned, saying we could choose from any of the pizzas for our "all you can eat" deal, except for the pies with seafood. That was fine, I don't like that junk on my pizza even if it's free. Our assorted crostini with mushrooms, tomatoes, and the odd ground beef came after another 20 minutes, and at that point, we took the opportunity to order. The waitress explained that Fabio's 'Smells of the Woods' pizza would come with bits of tartufo and porcini, but that they didn't have any asparagus. Well, ok, you don't normally find asparagus growing wild in the forest anyway. I decided to go with the Boscaiolo: porcini, sausage, olives and oregano. At least an hour later, our pizzas came, and mine had apparently lost its porcini on its way from the kitchen. I was super disappointed until Fabio gave me a few of his; it only took a few seconds to understand why he was so generous: DISGUSTING! The pizzas had thin crusts, which I can't complain too much about. The tomato sauce was good, but the mozzarella was certainly below average. We wanted to clean our plates so that we could get more pizza for our money, but I was doing good to stuff 3/4 of mine down. I was ready to leave, but Fabio wanted to try a special kind of margherita. This time he actually had to get up and search for a waiter. We learned the pizzeria was now out of mozzarella di bufala. Laughably ridiculous (...and I almost forgot to mention that not once, but twice, they brought other people's pizzas to our table)! So, Fabio ate a calzone instead, while I watched on with thirst because, unfortunately, it wasn't an 'all you can drink' deal.

FABIO: 4/10
